We also open for walk ins Friday 12pm-5pm (or sell out) & Saturday 10-2pm (or sell out)

There is a minimum order of £10 online and you will be ordering to collect on the following Friday of Saturday of the same week.

If we have extras to buy off the counter for walk ins, we will share this on our social media pages on the morning of our pre order collection days (Fridays and Saturdays)

We’re not a traditional cake shop in the sense that we’re open every day of the week! We treat the space mostly as a production kitchen, we make everything from scratch and work in a very small team. We often change days and times in accordance to our orders and occasionally have weeks where we just do pre-orders for collection via our website!

Please keep an eye on our social media pages in case we close early due to selling out!

158 Stamford Street Central,

There is on street parking for free if you can find a space for one hour (be careful not to park in the loading bays!) and several car parks within a 3-5min walk for anyone that will be in the area longer.

About us...

The Hidden Kitchen was founded by Fern who has been baking from home since 2012!

What started in the family kitchen as a hobby to provide treats and desserts to friends and family soon grew more popular as word spread. Soon enough, she was taking over the family kitchen and the decision was made (after much convincing from Fern) that Paul (Ferns Dad, aka Paulo) was going to give up half of his garage to be turned into a baking space and a wall was built down the middle (the kitchen being in the back half, hence hidden)

Whilst he was converting the space he also suffered a bout of Global Transient Amnesia and lost all memory of starting the renovation- another reason the name The Hidden Kitchen was eventually chosen.

Thankfully he made a full recovery soon after. Fern continued to bake from there for years until it was time to take over the other half of the garage in exchange for a shiny new shed for Paulo and the Kitchen finally had a front door!

The business has continued to grow in popularity so in early 2023 Fern decided to take the leap and move to a bigger premises which is currently in Stamford Street Central in Ashton Under Lyne. Fern hopes to continue the same standard as the business grows and start a small team of bakers to keep baking for the local area and beyond
